Post-epidemic driven
Compared with 2019 data, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) found that the overall volume of plastic surgery treatments increased significantly after the epidemic. Patients are no longer postponing treatments they had been considering, which may be attributed to increased work from home and flexible office hours giving patients more time to recover after surgery.
Focus on face and neck
Patients often start improving with the features they see first in the mirror: the face and neck. Certain trends and behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic have influenced the latest plastic surgery trends; for almost a year, masks have made the eyes the main focus of the face, which may have contributed to a surge in eyelid surgery volume, making it the fourth most common surgical procedure by 2022 A lot of cosmetic surgery. Facelift surgeries have increased by 8% in the past year, and cheek implants have increased by 150%.
Body image treatments still dominate
Weight fluctuations after the epidemic have led to an increase in related surgeries and non-surgeries. Compared with 2019, the number of liposuction surgeries increased by 23%, and non-invasive cellulite reduction treatments increased by 77%. Breast augmentation remains the most popular plastic surgery procedure, closely followed by liposuction, while breast lift surgeries have grown 30% since the start of the pandemic to rank fourth. The surge in demand for breast reduction surgery, up 54% from 2019, shows that people are increasingly focusing on comfort and beauty.
Social media influences trends and perceptions
Since the outbreak, transparency has gradually increased, as patients have become more willing to share their plastic surgery experiences on social media, leading to an increase in the volume of some treatments. Injectable lip augmentation ranks among the top five most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments for the first time, and buccal lipectomy has also increased.
