Why is meso needle combined with laser recommended for the treatment of melasma?

Melasma, as a common skin pigmentation disease, has complex causes, covering multiple factors such as genetics, endocrine imbalance, and ultraviolet radiation. It is difficult to treat, and clinical research is constantly exploring better treatment methods. How should we weigh so many treatment methods? How effective is microneedle mesotherapy for treating melasma? In clinical practice, have you used microneedle-introduced tranexamic acid combined with laser to treat melasma? What is the effect? Today, let’s discuss it together~

The treatment of melasma is guided by the principles of reducing melanin production, anti-inflammation, inhibiting angiogenesis, repairing the skin barrier, and resisting photoaging. Avoid inducing factors, pay attention to sun protection, use functional skin care products that repair the skin barrier, whitening skin care products, combine clinical staging and typing, and combine systemic and topical drugs, chemical peels, lasers, and traditional Chinese medicine treatments. Specific typing and staging treatments are required.

Meso needle introduced tranexamic acid

Combined with laser treatment for melasma

A study randomly divided 40 patients with chloasma into two groups. The experimental group used 755nm picosecond laser combined with nanocrystal meso needle to introduce tranexamic acid for treatment. First, use 8mm spot energy density 0.4J/cm2, frequency 10Hz, hand vertical skin lesions, distance 0.5 cm, scan once, the spot does not overlap, then use Focus hand, 8mm spot, energy density 0.4 J/cm2, frequency 5Hz, scan again, the treatment end point is slight redness and fever at the skin lesion, the color is slightly darker than before, and use medical cold compress mask immediately after the treatment. Treat once every 4 weeks, and treat 6 times in a row for a total of 6 months. And two weeks after each picosecond laser treatment, use meso needle to introduce tranexamic acid essence, about 2ml each time. The treatment response is a slight redness of the skin. Meso needle introduction is treated for six consecutive times. The control group only uses picosecond laser treatment.

Comparison of MASI scores and reduction rates before and after treatment

The results showed that 755nm combined with meso needle introduction of tranexamic acid had a synergistic effect and had obvious advantages in the treatment of melasma.

There is also a study that selected 90 patients with facial melasma and divided them into 3 groups, with 30 people in each group.
Patients in group A were treated with nano meso needle transdermal introduction of 0.5% tranexamic acid solution for a total of 15 times (once a week); patients in group B were treated with C6 large spot laser, with a wavelength of 1064nm, a large spot of 6nm and an energy of 1.0~2.5J/cm2, for a total of 5 times (once every 3 weeks); patients in group C were treated with meso needle transdermal introduction of 0.5% tranexamic acid solution combined with C6 large spot low-energy laser, during which low-energy laser treatment was used 5 times, once every 3 weeks, and meso needle introduction of 0.5% tranexamic acid solution was performed during the laser interval (once a week), for a total of 10 times.

The results showed that C6 laser combined with meso needle introduction of tranexamic acid also has obvious advantages in the treatment of melasma.

Laser treatment mechanism of chloasma

Laser treatment has great advantages in the treatment of pigmentary diseases. In addition to producing photothermal effects, it can also produce stronger photomechanical effects, which can blast pigment particles into smaller pieces, making them easier to be engulfed by macrophages and easier to be excreted from the body, shortening the body’s metabolic time.

Tranexamic acid can effectively inhibit the formation of melanin, lighten the color of spots, and improve skin color, but the formation and disappearance of melasma is a slow process. Facial rolling needles are non-invasive and have a short treatment cycle. They also have the advantages of high safety, low trauma, and fast recovery. This method stimulates skin blood circulation through meso needles, promotes the regeneration of elastin and collagen, improves skin texture and color, and makes the skin firm and smooth. Meso needles can also open skin channels and promote drug absorption.

The combination of meso needle introduction of tranexamic acid and laser can play a synergistic role and improve the efficacy of melasma treatment.

Summary

  1. The treatment goals of chloasma are to lighten or return the spots to normal, reduce their area or disappear, and reduce their recurrence.

  2. Depending on the degree of chloasma itself and concurrent inflammation, as well as whether it is complicated by underlying diseases, a multi-pronged, comprehensive treatment that takes both specimens into consideration can make the curative effect more significant.

  3. Photoelectric technology is one of the important methods for treating chloasma. However, photoelectric therapy can also cause varying degrees of damage to the skin barrier. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the repair and protection of skin barrier function after photoelectric surgery to prevent problems such as depigmentation, PIH, aggravation of chloasma, and even scarring.
